Work

I've done software development since I was eighteen. I've worked in all parts of the software development life cycle on many platforms, in many languages, in many environments, and integrated with many frameworks, databases, and other software packages, in several industries, in several business areas.

I started writing software to pay my way through university and polytech.  During polytech I joined Texas Instruments to manage the internal software development for the European Distribution Center.  I moved to England and joined the GUI revolution, hacking away at pre-release Windows 3.  I moved to Chicago and developed communications middleware and off of it consulting in systems integration, information security, high availability, and business continuity.  During that we were part of Microsoft's move to Windows NT.  That took me to the dawn of the World Wide Web and I moved to write large scale websites, eCommerce catalog and eCommerce server plug-in products.   I started my own company to put the power of the web in the hands of business users and make existing data and system functions available over the web by integrating with existing systems.  I moved to Portland, Oregon and worked on developing a more disaster-resilient private sector, commercializing technology, and ... always, developing software: open source content management systems, mobile software development, and semantic analysis systems.

I currently work at Amazon in Seattle as Senior Manager Software Development in the Kindle group, responsible for the International Expansion of the Kindle stores.
